ŗ«Å®Šć Deputy Principal recognised in The Educator’s 2021 ā€˜Hot List’

Congratulations to Ms Lorna Beegan, Deputy Principal of Learning and Teaching at ŗ«Å®Šć FCJ College, who has been recognised as one of the most influential educators over the past 12 months, for the second consecutive year in The Educator’s 2021 ā€˜Hot List’.

Released today, the  features leaders who are creating positive change in the lives of Australian students through a vast range of innovative evidence-based initiatives. Lorna’s imagination and ability to see new possibilities within each person and every opportunity is what sets her apart. She actively takes steps to realise what others leave within the realm of their dreams.

With over 25 years of experience as a teacher, Lorna’s focus is always on the student experience. She is fully cognisant of the need to take staff and students on a new trajectory for this third millennium.

ā€œIn education you cannot do anything alone. I enjoy being a leader who champions the ideas of others and supports newer teachers to innovate, create and collaborate; and our experienced teachers to share their insight, wisdom and years of experienceā€, says Ms Beegan.

“What attracted me to ŗ«Å®Šć was not only a position of leadership but that it is a school that embraces research, with its own Institute”.

The ŗ«Å®Šć Institute of Learning & Brain Sciences has been instrumental in leading the learning at ŗ«Å®Šć in new and diverse ways. Director of the Institute, Ms Catherine Brandon, works closely with Ms Beegan to deliver programs and opportunities at the forefront of the educational landscape, such as the creation of centres of excellence to the implementation of a microcredentials program catering for staff and students; and the launch of Studio Beyond, promoting employability and a step into the professional arena.

Being recognised as part of the Hot List, reflects ŗ«Å®Šć’s impact on rewriting education and its commitment to innovation and personalising learning, something which is strongly supported by Principal, Mrs Loretta Wholley.

ā€œIt is fantastic to see Ms Beegan, together with our teaching staff, implementing new programs tailored to students’ needs and interestsā€.

ā€œAnd to see the Learning and Teaching aspect of our Strategic Plan 2021-2024 come to lifeā€, shared Mrs Wholley.

The College is also proud to have been recognised as an Innovative School by The Educator for the past three years, in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Ms Beegan is an educator who exhibits excellence coupled with a great sense of fun. As a seasoned and dynamic public speaker, she can weave the narratives of ŗ«Å®Šć’s offerings to reach all parts of the community (students, parents and staff); and inspire them in new and diverse ways.
